in the m/arvel c/inematic u/niverse,  the olympians  exist separately than the eternals.   taken very loosely from the marvel comics  (   which has also been inspired loosely by the general greek myths  ) ,   the olympians are a race of extra-dimensional beings that possess a variety of mystical superhuman abilities that were once worshipped by civilizations.
#            their worships centers on or around the mediterranean, aegean, ionian, tyrrhenian and ligurian seas such as greece, the roman empire and parts of egypt and turkey as gods from roughly 2500 BC until roughly 500 AD.
#            olympians reside in another dimension that is adjacent to earth known as olympus.  one known entrance to this realm is actually located atop mount olympus in greece.   think thor,  with asgards.
#           i’d like to think that olympians are one of the first few beings to have existed ,   that is :   the pre-olympian gods  have existed first and may have existed alongside the first few celestials,   before the birth of zeus,  and his mythology of defeating and banishing cronus to tartarus comes to play,  making way to the existing olympian gods to exist.
#           the olympians are...  well,  gods.   they are generally immortal and have high durability and possesses great physical strength.   i like this bit particularly:  the increased density results in the olympians being much heavier than most humans, even though they don't appear to be.   despite their immortality,  they can still be injured and/or killed,  though not by conventional means.
so how can they exist alongside eternals ?
#          they just do.  eternals are a creation of a celestials bound for a purpose,  the olympians are not.  most of the olympians are born naturally (according to their respective mythological birth),  and they possess their powers naturally as well.  it’s not something one can take, give away, or steal.  sometimes they believe they’ve lost their powers but, you know. existential crisis.
#           i’d like to believe that each time the eternals’ memories are wiped and reconfigured ( for the lack of better term ),  they are re-created and/or given powers based on the best mythology and/or legends that can be found or have existed throughout the universe [within the context of the mcu].   thus,  why some eternals are modelled or have features of a few mythology’s best legends.
#           unlike eternals as well,  olympians do not worship nor follow arishem and they do not have a specific religion and/or figure of religion to follow.  zeus is their leader,  and is treated as royalty ,  but let’s be real,  every greek gods have fistfought zeus behind 7-eleven at 3am before :/
#          the olympians also exist with a duty attached to their names ( i.e. hephaestus is needed to smith for all of olympians ) ,  but they are not bound to any specific purpose.  this means,  as long as they do their jobs assigned to their station,  they can freely come and go.
#          this also means,  unlike the eternals,  they could’ve easily stop wars and end humans’ conflict without having a higher power restricting them from doing so.  most of the time,  the olympians do not.  some of them care and are attached to earth,  but many of them simply find it amusing.  but the olympians are generally self-absorbed with their own government anyways, so.  sometimes whatever happens on earth go unnoticed by them.
#         this is me repeating from my og post,  but:  events of celestial emergence do co-exist for centuries while the gods exist independently in their own realms.  so yes,  the gods do have a knowledge that emergences happen.  no,  they generally do not interject with any intergalactic events.
#         some gods are aware of the eternals;  some don’t.  most likelihood is,  many don’t quite know the true purpose of eternals are ( like they know celestial emergence happens,  they don’t think eternals were responsible for that. ) except for maybe,  zeus,  hades,  poseidon,  hera,  maybe hermes.  even helios.  hephaestus himself is somewhat aware that the eternals exist,  but it is only after the emergence nearly happens that he sees why.  he’s a fucking recluse,  dude.
#         also to add,  this does not mean i think the eternals are any less powerful or the olympians are way stronger to the point of being undefeated. i genuinely believe that the power or strengths they have can co-dependently exist and it ranges from person to person, god to god, and eternal to eternal, or a mix and match of that. maybe ares is a very formidable god and is excellent in combat and can rival the best eternal; hephaestus can have the exact amount of strength - but he is still a smith first than a warrior. he would lose a fight with a skilled opponent.
tl;dr
#         hephaestus exist like thor does,  as a god from the greek and roman myths.  olympus exist in a different realm,  and the gods are separate entities entirely than the eternals from their creations to individual beings.  he is very shy,  but is very curious to know who these seemingly immortals are!!!
